An RDS CAL is a license that allows users and devices to access a Windows Server. We'll explain how to install and configure a Remote Desktop License Server (RDS CALs) on Windows Server 2022 in this blog post.
To proceed, go over to Server Manager and click Add Roles and Features
Choose Next in the Before You Begin section.
Choose the the Role-based option, then press Next
Find options. Press Next after selecting a server from the server pool. You can also select a virtual hard disk from the drop-down menu
Set Remote Desktop Services as a role, then select Next.
By now, leave the Features section blank. Next should be chosen
Click Next yet again.
Click Next after selecting the role services Remote Desktop Session Host and Remote Desktop Licensing.
Select an option. If the destination server needs to be restarted automatically, click Install
Once you're finished, click Close.
Start "Server Manager," go over to Tools, Terminal Services, and then Remote Desktop Licensing Manager:
Expand the server area in the RD Licencing Manager, then select Activate Server.
The "Welcome to the Activate Server Wizard" window will pop up. Next should be chosen.
Pick Automatic as the connection method, then click Next.
Click Next after entering your Full Name and Company Name.
Click Next after entering your email and corporate information. After that, click Next to provide your email address and company information. As this is an optional Information field, you can also leave it blank.
When the Install Licenses procedure is finished, click Next to proceed.
Now, right-click your server's name and select Install licenses from the drop-down menu
The "Welcome to the Install Licenses Wizard" window will appear. Next should be selected.
Click Next after selecting the License Pack (Retail Purchase)
Enter your license key, then click Add, then Next.
Now everything is in place. The RDS CAL has now been activated.
